Evil lies to us and tempts us, and we turn to our own devices, introducing more chaos and suffering into the Supreme Order of Your Creation – fueling the cycle of disaster and death. Like a tsunami that starts with the flutter of a butterfly’s wings, every time we go our own way, we add to our own and others’ suffering. Because everyone and everything is interconnected, only 6 or 7 degrees separate us from 7 billion other souls, we can’t begin to perceive the far-reaching consequences of even our smallest self-serving acts done against Your Will. We live our lives thinking we’re pretty decent human beings – not realizing we have complied unwittingly with destructive forces over and over again. You Open our eyes. You Heal our spiritual blindness. We begin to see that only by letting You Lead us will Your Supreme Order be restored and Your Peace Reign. We come to know that even the smallest mitzvah, the smallest kindness, has far reaching consequences like the butterfly’s fluttering wings. Compounded, they will bring about the Peace that everyone longs for. That is why we are to go and make disciples of all nations. That is why we are to feed Your sheep – both literally and spiritually. As Your Kingdom is established in more and more hearts, the tide of evil will be stemmed and turned back. Lead us on Your Path, Lord, that Your Will is accomplished through us, the Body of Christ on in this world.
