“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Compassion and the God of all Comfort, Who Comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the Comfort we ourselves receive from God.” 2Corinthians 1:3
Pain is pain. Knowing a friend broke her leg in three places doesn’t stop us from yelping and cursing when we stub our toes. Knowing that people are starving in developing nations or sleeping in doorways of urban businesses doesn’t stop us from worrying when money runs short at the end of the month. Knowing that others are oppressed by despotic regimes doesn’t mean we’re imlmune to hurt feelings or loneliness. Intellectually, we keep our woes in perspective, but we still suffer. We hurt. We worry, and we are afraid. We can’t escape the slings and arrows of this world while we are still in it. A stubbed toe will still throb. Rejection will still sting. But when we step into Your Kingdom spiritually, we can lean on You! We cast our pain, our worries, and our fears onto You. For You Are, and You Are Mighty and infinitely Stronger than we are. You opened the Door to Your Kingdom that day on the Cross. You are the Door! You’re waiting for us to step through and into Your open Arms. You are ready to Take our burdens, Comfort us, Nurture us, Fortify us, and Give us Joy and Your Peace that passes all understanding.
A child doesn’t just sit in the dirt with scraped knees, sobbing. She runs to her mother for comfort. Her mother cleans the scrapes, whispering it will only sting for a moment, and then it will be okay. The mother places Band-Aids over the minor scrapes because she knows Band-Aids make everything better. She kisses both knees, kisses the child’s forehead, and sends her back out to play, knowing there will be more scrapes and bruises, and that she, the mother, will be right there to gather the hurt child in her arms and comfort her every time. God, You are our Mother and our Father. You Nurture and Comfort us. You Protect us and Provide for us. Thank you so much Lord! You are more Loving, Kind and Forgiving than we can comprehend. We love You and praise You for all that You Are and Do for is.
Amen ✝️❤️🥰
