“So we make it our goal to please Him” 2 Corinthians 5:9a
In elementary school I had a crush on my second grade teacher. I hung around after school – sometimes for an hour or more – exchanging pleasantries and ideas. I would tell her my plans and what was on my mind. I would offer to clean the blackboards or wash the desktops. Sometimes I just dawdled quietly in the empty classroom, basking in the warmth of her affection for me and all of her students. I didn’t want ever to disappoint her. I constantly sought her approval. I always did my work for her. I brought bouquets of violets that would she would place in a dixie cup on her desk. She would smile at me in thanks for the gift. That’s what being Your Child is. I am to live to please and love You. No other goals supercede this – not giving away my stuff – not starting ministries or teaching Sunday School – or even “being good”. I am to stay in Your Presence, feeling Love flow between us. All else that happen are side effects of our Relationship. Ripples radiate out from our Connection with You, affecting the world around us. And you have made all of this possible for us by sending Your Holy Spirit to live in us. You have enabled us to become One with You while we are still in this world. Thank You for Rescuing me from myself!
John 17:20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in Me through their message, 21 that all of them may be One, Father, just as You are in Me and I am in You.22 I have given them the Glory that You gave Me, that they may be One as We are One— 23 I in them and You in Me—so that they may be brought to complete Unity.”
